The Department of English seeks to meet the needs of diverse students, including those preparing to be teachers, scholars and writers and those who will pursue other careers and professional studies which require strong analytic and linguistic skills.

  • An introduction to a selection of Shakespeare's plays spanning all phases of his career, with an emphasis on close reading of the texts.

  • The goal of English 2500 is to improve the student’s writing skills and techniques in regard to fiction, poetry, playwriting, and creative non-fiction. This course introduces some elementary skills and structures for the student interested in a general knowledge of creative writing, and helps to prepare the committed student writer for further study in the field.
