The Department of Teaching and Learning has a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching. Our curricular programs focus on preparing effective public school educators for today's schools by helping educators learn ways to address diverse student populations that have been traditionally underserved.
The course provides research-based principles in beginning reading. Phonics instruction and work study, comprehension strategies, and motivation are studied. Also considered are methods for creating an exciting classroom where children are enthusiastic and constantly motivated to learn.
